Prayer
We
are a praying church.
If you have any prayer requests or items of praise that you wish to
share with us, you
can email the church
office,
or you can call the
office at (502) 456-5500. Prayer
requests can either be kept confidential or can be shared with the
congregation, at your preference. You can also submit any prayer
concerns on Sunday mornings on the card provided in the bulletin.

Worship
and the
Arts
We believe that music is
a powerful means
to worship God. In the attempt to worship God both creatively and
biblically, we do not restrict our music to one style. You will
find our worship style somewhere between contemporary and
traditional. We sing both hymns and praise songs, accompanied by many
different instruments -- organ, piano, guitar, double bass, violin,
trumpet, etc.
We welcome anyone to join our music ministry. If you sing or play an
instrument, don't be shy! Music practice is at Calvary at 6:30pm on
Wednesdays.
Bert Witzel is our music director. Please speak to him with any
suggestions or if you would like to help out with the music on Sunday
mornings.

Children
and Nursery
A nursery is available
for those who wish
to use it for children up to their third birthdays. Children are also
welcome to stay in the worship service.Thank you for working with them
as they grow to
learn how to worship. Please do not leave your children unattended.
The nursery is located through the door in the front of the sanctuary
and up the steps, and it is staffed by volunteers from the
congregation. Childcare begins around 8:50am. Please pick up your
child(ren) as soon as practical after the service. Nursery is also
provided during the Sunday school hour. If you have
any questions or would like to volunteer to help in the nursery, please
see Julie Koci or Jamieson Forristal.
During the service there is a time of prayer for the children. At this
time parents may dismiss their children to Children's Church,
or you
may keep your children with you in worship. You may also
accompany your children if it will be helpful to them or you.
Children's church meets in the nursery (see above) and they may be
picked up after worship or
will be brought to the fellowship hall downstairs. Children's Church
volunteers, please talk to Jennifer Forristal.
Children's Sunday school is also offered for all ages. The Toddlers
class is in the nursery. The Preschool, Primary, and Junior High
classes meet up the stairs from the nursery. The new quarter begins on
January 10th. The class material is based on the Great Commissions and
Publications Sunday school curricula. See Lisa Krystaponis
with
questions or if you would like to teach for a quarter.

Women's
Ministry
The Women in the Church
(WIC) is led by a steering
committee of Katie Nau (president), Dana Arnold, Nanci Dively,
Elizabeth Mattson, and Amy
Rutherford. (Note: two
positions will become available in the fall of 2010, as some ladies
will be rotating off the committee.)
Ladies'
Sunday School, Treasures of
Encouragement, starts
January 10th. See above for details.
The
PCA Women's Leadership Conference will be February 25-27th in
Atlanta, GA. This conference is for any
woman in the church. You don't have to be on the WIC committee or a
teacher; it's open to everyone. This would also be a good opportunity
for anyone interested in joining the WIC committee to learn more about
women's leadership. See this link
for more details and for registration information.

Small
Groups
Barnabas
Groups are
small groups that meet throughout the area twice a month on Sunday
evenings. The average group consists
of 8-15 people. The name is taken from Barnabas in the book of Acts.
His name means
“Son of Encouragement”, and these
groups are
designed to be
places of
encouragement. The concept of ministry through small groups is seen in
Acts 2:42,
where we read "And they devoted themselves to the Apostles' teaching
and fellowship, to the breaking of bread
and the prayers."
Barnabas groups are primarily
designed for Fellowship [provide a way
for members to get to know one another and establish lasting
and
supportive friendships.], Prayer [teach and encourage group members to
support each other and bear one another's burdens
in prayer, although
no one is required to pray out loud], and some
Teaching - help group members--from young
Christians to long-time
believers--to grow in their knowledge of God by examining
their
lives
in the light of His Word. Most of the groups have a light supper as
part of the fellowship time.
Each group determines how members
divide the responsibilities for bringing food. Most groups include
activities for the children and youth, but there is
at least one group that does not include children. Since one
of
the goals is to develop
friendships with other members of
the congregation in your general geographic area, you should
stay
with
the same group for a period of time. However, you are free to move
whenever you want. We also hope that, as the church
grows, the groups
grow and need to
multiply.
If you need more information about
the groups, ask one of the pastors
or leaders at the church.
